Weekly Recipe: Hangover Helpers

Posted by Rebecca Shrimpton on

Good morning, sunshine! You've reached holiday prime time, which means that this weekend you have at least one major party to attend. All of that mulled wine, spiked eggnog, and rum punch can really take a toll on your mind and your body the next day. To help you out, we've researched the top four hangover helpers to get you feeling back to normal the morning after.

1. Peppermint Tea

Peppermint is known to ease stomache pain and nausea, and the best way to consume it is in a bright and fresh cup of hot tea. Our favourite blend is loose leaf Organic Peppermint Tea from Bahati.

2. Banana and Kiwi Smoothie

Load up on potassium! It's important to restock this major electrolyte that is often depleted when consuming alcohol. Find an amazing recipe for a Blood Orange, Banana, Kiwi, and Chia Seed Smoothie here.

3. Eggs, Asparagus, and Toast

Stay away from greasy foods for breakfast. Instead, opt for a poached egg, some steamed asparagus, and dry toast. The amino acids in the egg and asparagus will boost liver function and break down headache inducing chemicals. The bland carbs in the toast will raise your blood sugar without upsetting your stomache.

4. Pickle Juice

Toss back a glass of pickle juice to quickly replenish your electrolyte and sodium levels. You can thank the Russians for this tip!

Happy (not hungover) Holidays!
