Making Monday Pretty: How to Control Oil August 04 2014

As much as we love the summer heat and appreciate that humidy provides moisture to our skin, helping to keep it protected from dryness, we don't always love the greasy look and feel that creeps up on us by mid afternoon. Below, some of our favourite products for keeping oil at bay and controlling it once it has arrived.
1. Start with your moisturizer. Rather than starting with an ultra rich cream in the summer, switch to a mattifying version in the summer months that will help control oil all day. Our favourites are Effaclar Mat from La Roche Posay and Kora Organics Soothing Day & Night Cream.
2. Use a primer. After letting your moisturizer sink in for a minute or two, follow up with a silicone based primer. This will not only also help to lock out oil but will help keep your makeup from sliding around and lock it in place. Our must haves are Benefit's the POREfessional and L'Oreal Paris Magic Perfecting Base, both of these will leave your skin looking matte and flawless!
3. Blot on the go. We don't go anywhere without a blotting powder tucked into our handbags to quickly dust on with a travel brush to reduce any midday T-zone shine! Our pick is the cult favourite Makeup Forever HD Pressed Powder, which comes in a super convenient mini travel size.
4. Use salt, a natural antiseptic which helps to balance the skin's moisture levels, aka goodbye over-production of oil! Keep this salty spray on our desk and mist your face when you feel the first signs of oil. We love Olivine's Love + Salt Mist
Have a beautiful (and matte!) Monday everyone.
