Making Monday Pretty: Real Techniques Brushes
Posted by Hayley French on
If you haven't heard of the YouTube makeup sensation PixiWoo then consider this your introduction! These sisters, Nic and Samantha Chapman are both professional makeup artists and watching their beauty tutorials and product reviews are just as entertaining as they are informative. A couple of years ago Samantha launched her own line of makeup brushed called Real Techniques which combine high-tech materials and innovative design, and all at an unbelievable price. Some brushes are sold individually (priced between $6 and $10) and some are sold as sets such as the Core Collection (for face), Starter Set (for eyes), and the Travel Set, which all contain between 3 and 5 brushes for only $18! When we first heard of these we were skeptical as to how good a brush at this price point could really be, but after watching the hundreds of positive reviews on YouTube and noticing how beloved they were by almost every beauty blogger out there, we had to give them a try and we were glad we did. Believe us when we say, these brushes have taken the place of all our MAC and Bobbi Brown brushes as out go-to's every morning and we can't wait to get every single one.
A couple tips we've discovered along the way, you don't always have to use the brush for exactly what it's meant for. We love using the tiny pointed Pixel-Point Eyeliner Brush to get our concealer exactly where we want it, especially helpful when you need to cover a blemish or two. We also like the dense domed head of the Deluxe Crease Brush to buff our concealer in, especially under the eyes for a truly airbrushed look, even Samantha Chapman and her sister Nic use this eyeshadow brush for their concealer! If you find you're a little bit clueless as to how to use which brush or just feel you need some extra tips, Sam has put together how-to videos for each of her brushes, which you can find here.
If you want to purchase Real Techniques, you can find them at Walmart, Amazon and Designer Cosmetics located in the Holt Renfrew Centre (underground near Zara!).
Don't forget to check out the Pixiwoo channel on YouTube as well as the Real Techniques channel for tons of tips and looks to create with your new brushes!
Have a beautiful Monday everyone!
